BIOGRAPHY
Cheryl Palmer, M.Ed., CPRW is a career coach and a certified professional resume writer.
Ms. Palmer is the founder of Call to Career, a career coaching firm that assists people in finding their niche or calling in life as well as finding new employment in a difficult economy. Before embarking on this business venture, she served as the director the Career Resource Center at the U.S. Department of Transportation as a contractor. The Center provided monthly career seminars as well as customized seminars for special groups, career development computer programs, a video learning laboratory, a career development library, and individual career assistance.
Prior to becoming the director at the Career Resource Center, Ms. Palmer worked at the Department of Labor (DOL) as a career counselor on a contractual basis. In addition to individual counseling, she designed and conducted career development courses which were offered at the DOL Academy and were available for college credit.
Ms. Palmer has also worked on a part-time basis in higher education as a career counselor at the University of Maryland and Prince George´s Community College, assisting current students, alumni, and members of the community with career direction. In addition, she worked at Wider Opportunities for Women as a career development associate, teaching career development classes, facilitating an employment support group, and coordinating an internship placement program for computer trainees.
As a career expert Ms. Palmer has been quoted in articles in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, CNN, MarketWatch, The Ladders, ExecuNet, and HotJobs.
She has also been a guest on Fox Business News where she discussed how job seekers can use their alumni associations to assist them with their job searches, and she appeared on Maryland Public Television to discuss how job seekers can improve their resumes.
